Kaye College is an institution of higher education dedicated to teacher education and the professional development of educators, kindergarten teachers, and teachers throughout their professional path, beginning with initial training and continuing through internship, personal growth, and organizational learning. The College serves as a center for learning, research, and educational innovation.
Kaye College views teaching knowledge as a unique form of academic knowledge, one that is based on experience and the informed ability to learn, interpret, and conceptualize it. Learning to teach, like any form of learning, is a continuous process of building knowledge (theoretical, ethical and practical) within the socio-cultural context in which it occurs. Teachers advance this learning process through constant dialogue with their students, colleagues, and the community in which they operate. The educational environment at the College aims to reflect this premise. Teacher education is directed towards the construction of “practical wisdom” and integrates three dimensions: The head: academic literacy and theoretical knowledge in in teaching and educational disciplines; the heart: commitment to and caring for the individual and society; and the hand: skills for promoting teaching and learning.
Kaye College is an integral part of the fabric of educational life in the south of Israel. We view education as a social mission and the teachers as educators capable of grappling with central social issues, leading processes to narrow social gaps, and promoting tolerance for diversity in a democratic and multicultural society.
