About
The Center for Motivation and Self-Determination promotes autonomous motivation, social-emotional learning (SEL), resilience, and self-determination. The Center focuses on training teachers and principals, enhancing classroom teaching-learning processes, and facilitating change in schools.
The Center’s goals are:
- To train teachers to be attuned to the students’ emotional and motivational worlds, equipping them with tools to implement teaching practices that support motivation and self-determination.
- To cultivate the school as an optimal educational and emotional environment for both student development and the professional growth of teachers.
- To promote wellbeing in educational systems and in the community.
- To develop teaching and learning methods aimed at fostering autonomous-intrinsic motivation for learning among students, and motivation for teaching among educators.
- To advance a pedagogy of wellbeing, resilience, and self-determination in higher education institutions.
